Fundraising

VOLUNTEERS:

The success of the Quinte Figure Skating Club (QSC) is based on its volunteers who support the skaters and coaches in the planning and delivery of our programs and events. There are many ways to be involved from serving on the Board of Directors, to assisting with our annual ice show, or test days and competitions. The Club can always use the assistance volunteers to assist on skating days especially Canskate. This usually involves handing out name tags and other information as required. Volunteering is a great way for parents to learn about skating and the club. We also welcome senior skaters who may want to use volunteer hours towards high school requirements or Duke of Edinburgh programs.

Fundraising:

The Club tries to keep its fundraising to a minimum.  Fundraising ensures the viability of the club and allows us to invest in specialized coaching or seminars for our skaters.  It also ensures that the costs of our ice shows and other events are at a minimum cost for skating families.

BINGO:

The Quinte Skating Club, along with numerous other community organizations in this region, participates in the Lions Club Charity Bingo each month in order to reduce ice fees.  By participating in Bingo, The QSC receives shares in the revenue generated by the Lions Club.  Volunteers are always needed! Bingo is held at the Belleville Lions Hall on Dundas St., East in Belleville.  Volunteers should arrive at 5:45pm and can expect to be finished at approximately 9:30pm.  Normally our  StarSkate families are responsible for 4 mandatory bingos, however we need volunteers above and beyond this.  Three volunteers are required for each bingo, consisting of 2 runners, who verify the bingo card to the caller when a player calls bingo, deliver a cash prize to the winner(s) and some general clean up at the end of the game.  The third volunteer is responsible for the paperwork behind the counter, count the money and do the bank deposit. Dates for these bingos can be found on the club calendar.  Below is the link for signing up for Bingo’s. Volunteers assist the Club and will also receive a rebate on their skating fees.

Signing up to participate in a BINGO is straightforward.  Please CLICK HERE to sign up.

StarSkate families may opt to pay a fundraising fee in lieu of BINGOs.

TICKET SALES:

Each year in September we participate in the Skate Ontario Lottery Tickets.  A portion of the tickets sold comes back to the club.  Prizes are big, for example cars, electronics and cash.  Skating Clubs are also eligible for prizes.  One year the Quinte Skating Club won an iPad which we still use today.
